Adult Bible Study

These classes are held on Monday morning and evening using approved sources and inviting parishioners to a deeper understanding of scripture.  Other Bible study groups are offered periodically throughout the year.  Monday Bible study coordinator – Dianne Rose, 538-9013.

Adult Confirmation Preparation

For adults baptized and brought up in the Catholic faith and wishing to be confirmed, this program offers preparation for Confirmation at the Easter Vigil each year.  Adult Confirmation candidates will need to take Basic Catholicism for the fall semester which will begin September 10, 7:00-8:30 pm.  Registration is required but no fee is asked for this program.  Contact Barbara Scott, 724-3132, bscott@stjohnvianney.net to register and for more information.

Crossroads (Adult Formation) Adult formation is done in conjunction with three other parishes, Holy Name of Jesus, Holy Redeemer, and St. Pius X.  Speakers present talks on various topics throughout the year at each of the four parishes for members of all four parishes and any others who wish to join us.  Adults are needed to help set up hospitality for events at St. John Vianney.  Contact Barbara Scott, 724-3132, for a current schedule or click here.

Community Formation / Village Nights and Retreat This is a new program to be implemented in 2007.  This program involves the whole parish, learning to “be church” for one another and those we meet.  The program comprises four areas of parish life: Conversion, Evangelization, Catechesis, and Justice.  Volunteers are needed for parish retreats (small group facilitators, refreshments, set-up/clean-up) and monthly intergenerational community nights, called The Village Nights (small group facilitators, kitchen help, set-up/clean-up).  Call Barb Scott, 724-3132, for more information or to sign up to help. F. I. R. E. Women’s Group 

This group hopes to renew the spiritual bonds between women of all ages and walks of life by praying, faith-sharing, and working together.  This group sponsors retreats and/or guest speakers periodically throughout the year.  Contact Barbara Scott, 724-3132, for more information.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults/Children (RCIA/RCIC)

The important task of welcoming into the church adults and children offers many opportunities for participation.  Some of these include leaders for inquiry, Sunday morning dismissal leaders, and retreat and liturgy planning.  If you are interested in joining the Catholic Church or in being a part of this leadership team, contact Barbara Scott, 721-3132, for more information.

RCIA Schedule

Vacation Bible School

Students and volunteers enjoy a fun and faith-filled week in the summer, usually in mid to late June.  Helpers are needed to lead activity stations, to act as aides, to guide groups of children from station to station, to prepare craft materials, to provide child care for other volunteers, to provide musical and theatrical support for the program, and more.  Program participants vary in age from 4 years old to 5^th grade and volunteers are needed from age group, 7^th grade to adult.  Registration is required for this program.  See registration form for fee.  If you would like to help or would like more information, contact Barbara Scott, 724-3132.

Welcome Home

St. John Vianney invites all returning Catholics to a six-week series.  During these sessions we will discuss topics that will update the participants on the Catholic Church today. Classes will begin September 10, 7:00-8:30 pm. Contact Barbara Scott, 724-3132, to register and for more information.

Worship Center
